First draft, unedited, and titleless to boot. Meh.

Maybe I’ll be Isadora Duncan
and strangle myself with my scarf
a skinny length
cotton and tinsel
snake scale and fisherman’s net weave
A famous Roman
(who I can’t remember the name of
and it doesn’t matter anyway)
once said
‘Nothing’s new, and nothing’s true
and nothing matters’
And what’s the use?
Call me Isadora.

But I doubt it.
‘Cause I’ve got a secret.
I hoard it
like the precious treasure it is
(the Holy Grail deep within
the cave of wonders)
Come closer.
Just a little bit more,
and I’ll tell you.
I am…
…an eternal…
looking skywards
though the heavens may fall.

But remember, it’s a secret
a vulnerability
that cannot be exposed to air
lest it rot
like fruit fallen upon the autumn ground

Can I trust you?

I don’t want to be like Isadora
don’t want to give everything up
for one tug of the knot,
and an eternity of nothingness
where nothing matters
to escape moments of pain
that sometimes manages to overshadow
the good
But I am scared.
Scared so bad
that I can’t move for
the shaking in my limbs.

Can’t give up, though.
Another wise man once said
‘I’d rather feel bad than feel nothin’ at all’

I always liked Warren Zevon better anyway.

I love the words in this, sad though it may be.

I dig, chica. Very nice. And great last line.

Two minor grammar notes from moi, the Grammar Nazi: in the first set of parentheses, it might read easier to say (whose name I can't remember
and in the second-to-last verse, it should be momentS of pain that sometimes manage to overshadow (subj-verb agreement.)

Also: That's a very cool icon. Where's it from? It looks like a visual from the novel Good Omens (Gaiman/Pratchett).
