Yes, I really am updating

Lookie, new icon. :-D No comments about unhealthy obsessions or anything of the like.

I'm not sure if it's a sign of the quality of music now or just my mental state, but why has just about every CD I've bought in the past two months is a good ten years old. The newest one produced is from 1994. Most recent purchase (of about an hour ago): The Best of The Who.

I asked my dad once if that when he was my age (mid 1970's) if they had just as much crappy music back then as well, and he assured me they did. I don't know if that makes me more or less worried about of the state of today's music though. Thoughts anyone?

Your obsessions are unhealthy, darlin'. Unlike mine. *cough*

As for your music, I see nothing wrong with it. I don't buy much music these days, and my playlist is a nice mix of 80s and current stuff that I hear so often I can't help but like. And lots of soundtrack music. Luuuuuuuuuuv soundtrack music. The Who is classic rock, ya gotta love it. And I love Duran Duran, too. Nothing wrong there at all.

I wouldn't worry too much about the state of music. The best part about music is that it's timeless; there's nothing to stop you from listening to something written last week, last year, last decade, even last century. Music is one of the oldest forms of expression, better than more tangible forms of art, IMO.

So, in sum, you're just mildly weird ;)

::points at icon, arches eyebrow::

I think we're in the same boat obsession wise, dearie. We might as well enjoy it. ::grins lewdly::

I wonder if each generation thinks the music of now doesn't compare to the music of "their" time, you know? Maybe it takes time to learn to appreciate things.

Although... ain't no amount of time gonna make me appreciate Britney or Christina. Ain't gonna happen, LOL.

But actually, my time was late 70s-early 80s and yet I actually grew up listening to old country music and "oldies" stations - lots and lots of Beatles. Lots.
