a/n: Unfortunately, it's not the next chapter. Real life has been kicking me good and hard lately, so chapter 15 and everything else is taking a lot longer than I'd like to get down on the page. This bit, however, is helping me work through a stylistic issue I'm having with that part, so hopefully this is a good sign. Since I think it could stand on its own as a ficlet, I'm taking a chance and posting it here.

( Tell Me Something True )

I have a cunning plan.

It's actually not really cunning, because having a cunning plan usually means that disaster is going to follow at an extremely rapid pace, no matter what time period you're in. But it's an idea.

First, I want to thank everyone who responded to the last post with their suggestions. They really were awesome and I took advantage of a lot of them. And I must remember that 'Write or Die' website for completing schoolwork. Because that'll be a hell of a way to get things done.

And I'm rambling again (and possibly stalling, because the school work isn't quite done, but it will be by tonight....see, rambling).

Anyway, my proposition is this to help shake this writer's block: I am offering up free drabbles (drabble-ish. I'm rubbish at sticking to 100 words). Give me a prompt, give me the characters, and we'll see what comes out.

Sound like a not-very-cunning plan?

I seem to be well and truly stuck on the next part of Mysterious Ways, which sucks big time. Especially since I have a damn good idea what's going to happen in this part, but nothing seems to be working. Does anyone out there have any tips as for how the hell to pull myself out of this slump? 'Cause believe me, I could use the help right now...I may be able to offer pay back for help in drabbles, if the muse hasn't abandoned me...

Beginning of the month, and I can breathe a little easier. So just a heads up, I'm going to try to respond to all of your posts tonight!

So the next season of Ashes to Ashes is coming out soon. What they've been saying about it is that it's going to take place six months after the last series ended, put them smack in the middle of the Falklands War, etc, etc... Once my math brain finally caught up with that statement, it smacked into me: six months after the last series ended would put the show taking place in April of 1982.

Crap.

It has now been officially declared that the year I was born in has been declared 'retro'. *facepalm* Happy April Fool's Day to me.... *headdesk*

On a funnier note, I'm having a good time laughing at drunken!Kitty. Not really drunken, but she was spayed yesterday and is still dopey from the anesthesia. It's surprisingly amusing.

a/n: Why did my text-less Sonnets icon get hacked to be some warped, Transformers like thing? Ugh, I hate it when that happens. Must get rid of that somehow. I hope it lives up to expectations. ;) It's so weird though, I've had this chapter and the song that precedes it in my head for over a year now, since before I started writing out the story, and now it's finally here on paper. ( Fourteen: Last Chance on the Stairway... )

Permit me to rant for a moment. (If you're just here for the fic, no worries, you can tune this out. It's my form of cheap therapy.)

Dear life,

You know, just as soon as I manage to get some sort of order and steady ground with you, something has to come along and throw a whacking great monkey wrench into the works. I finally manage to get everything organized at work, and I realize that I've been neglecting my schoolwork to the point that I'm not going to be sleeping for the next week to get things done.

Then, I get the schoolwork under control, get some great ideas for my annotations and the creative piece I have to work on, and then Mom has to shatter that happy little bubble with "did you send your tax stuff in yet?" "what about that thing I sent you in the mail?" "what do you mean you forgot your grandmother's birthday?!"

Argh. Please, enough with the guilt. I feel bad enough that I apparently have the mental capacity of a grain weevil lately for remembering stuff, she doesn't have to drive the guilt in like a freaking sharp needle under the toenail. I actually managed to forget what day of the week it was last week. That was a real fine moment.

At least the cat loves me. Until she tries to pull my TV off the stand by the wires again. Then I could swear she's one of Crowley's minions.

Okay, thank you for indulging me. I had to get that out of my system. Back to the schoolwork now. I think I can get most of the creative piece done tonight as I wait for 'Einstein and Eddington' to download. I need a Tennant fix.

Ugh. I thought I could use my sick day to get some good writing in (have been waylaid by a pretty gross upper respiratory tract infection) but alas, no. I slept. I hate sleeping, it's a waste of time. But I'm awake now, and I'm going to finish this part tonight even if it leaves blisters on my fingers.

Then I'll get to responding to everyone's responses to part 13, so I can reassure you that it's nowhere near as bad as you think it is. ;)

( Thirteen: If You Wanna Kiss the Sky... )

So I'm sitting in the middle of Coffee Depot trying to do homework (It's a great coffee shop - if you're ever in RI I highly recommend giving it a visit) when all of a sudden a variant of the Top Gear theme starts playing. Now, maybe it's the original version, but I don't care. It still will forever remind me of Top Gear. And that makes me giggle.

Okay, must get a refill and then back to RL writing.

update: And the song right after the Top Gear theme is 'Paperback Writer'. Highly appropriate. :)

And for those of you who are here for the important things in life (i.e. fanfic) I'm thinking the next part of Mysterious Ways will be up somewhere between the 9th and 14th of February. Schoolwork is kicking my ass into the ground, and that has to get done first (five pages due by Monday, twenty-five by the 8th. Joy.). But luckily I've got most of the next chapter handwritten out, it's just a matter of getting it onto the comp and fine-tuning it.

...and the cat's staring at me as I type as if I'm an alien. Gotta love it.

So beckiebex gave me a prompt tonight: "...when the TARDIS finally realises the 'blip' shes monitoring is Rose?" The TARDIS as a character is always fascinating, and this is what came out. Totally un-beta'd and whatnot, so any comments would be most appreciated. :)

( The Arrival and the Reunion )

I know some well meaning people out there have been eager for the next part of Mysterious Ways, but yeah, it's been delayed again. The school assignment from Hell suddenly came up (which really means I should check my e-mail more) and I had to turn out 12,000+ words of original fiction in about the space of nine days, due just a couple of days ago. That's finally done and this weekend, with any luck, part 10 will be posted. anepidemic and earlgreytea68, I'll be e-mailing you shortly, probably by Saturday to answer some of the questions you had in the latest round of beta work and hopefully will have some revisions to send off as well.

In the meantime, I'm off to crash. Spent about 11 hours at work today and I'm done. See you in the morning!

( She Moves in Mysterious Ways... )

Would anyone out there be willing to take over as beta for 'Mysterious Ways'? I've got another two parts completed, but I feel like I'm wavering a bit from the beginning part and possibly repeating myself. So a fresh set of eyes on the piece would be awesome.

I know this is the last thing anyone wants to hear, but it's going to take me a bit longer to get out the next part of Mysterious Ways than I thought it would. Real life has suddenly become very, very busy, and I don't know when I'm going to be able to post the next part. I am hoping by Halloween though. So my apologies for the delay. :(

But real life being busy is a good thing in this case - I got accepted into grad school for creative writing and classes start in January, so I've got a lot to do in the next few months. It's going to be a hell of a ride. ;)

Of course I had to choose October 13th. I'd be a bad fangirl if I didn't...:)

Author's Notes: So what do I love about the Doctor and Rose? It was said in ‘The Impossible Planet’ and ‘The Satan Pit’, my two all time favourite episodes. Out of all of the things, he believes in her. But I also think he underestimates her a bit, which makes for one hell of a story. I also love some of that good old fashioned Bad Wolf, and all of its untapped potential there. I love how music is used in the series, in both serious and cracktastic ways.

And I love a great reunion fic.
